The Updating/Licencing Unit of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria is responsible for the updating and issuance of practicing licences to all categories of registered nurses within and outside the Country. It is also the Unit responsibility to treat all correspondences and keeping statistics of all processed and dispatched licences.
The Unit has been in existence since 1987 and its activities supported and enforced by section 5 of the amended decree 54 of 1988 which stipulates that “no nurse shall be allowed to practice or continue to practice in any year expect such a nurse has paid the Annual Licencing fee as prescribed by the Council.
The renewal fee is liable to review periodically, the current updating/renewal fee is five thousand naira (N5, 000.00) only and licences are renewed every three years and penalty of two thousand naira (N2, 000.00) per year of default. First (1st) Licencing fee is five thousand naira and penalty of three thousand naira (N3, 000.00) for each year of default from 1999 till date. |
